First founded in 2003 on the sunny Caribbean island Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, by Lars and Margit Abrahamsson. This power couple migrated from Sweden in 1989 after starting many staple restaurants in Stockholm. The original restaurant was a hotspot in the community for tourists and locals alike offering local fare, great service, amazing live music and the pirate-like setting. Their son (Chef and Owner of Creekside Villa and Devil’s Table) Marcus Abrahamsson was born into the hospitality industry and spent 25 years of his life on the Island.
Carolyn Abrahamsson, now owner and operator of Creekside Villa met Marcus while he was working as a chef for his parents at the original Devil’s Table in 2009 at a New Year’s Eve bash where they danced the night away. Within a few months, they were already living and working together on the island.
After traveling the world to work and study cuisine and hospitality the couple found out they were expecting their first child. They decided to settle down in Canmore and purchased their first solo business venture together, the former Creekside Country Inn.
Their goal was to open a boutique hotel with a fabulous restaurant in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and felt it was only right to bring their “roots” to the concept. Thus, Creekside Villa and Devil’s Table was born.
